Mauri ora! Ātea is a Māori-led arts and community kaupapa, an open space for all artists, hapori and ngā kaupapa.
Ko wai mātou · Who we are
The open space where art meets people
When Tāne separated his parents, he created te ātea: the space between Rangi and Papa, that was filled with light and all of creation. We recognise this relationship and space in our name.
Ātea creates space for all artists and the wider hapori to gather, make and celebrate. We produce events, support creatives, and hold a place where toi and community thrive side by side.

A place for everyone on the ātea
Māori-led and open to all, come as you are, bring the whānau, and share the space.
Hapori
Ātea is a gathering place. We make room for whānau, kaimahi and manuhiri to come together, to share kai, kōrero and connection.
Toi
Māori-led and open to all, we back artists and creatives, music, moving image, kapa, design and digital toi, and build stages for the mahi to be seen.
Kaupapa
From block parties to wānanga, we host kaupapa that bring energy to the rohe and put our people and place at the centre.
